Is it Time to Consider a Workplace Literacy Program?

A. Downsizing and Restructuring

  1. Is the job security of workers, particularly those in blue-collar jobs, threatened?

  2. Does the decision to retain a position or to transfer a worker to another department depend on the worker's range of general skills and ability to adapt to a new work situation?

  3. Is front-line staff now being expected to make more decisions?

B. Health and Safety

  1. Has health and safety been an issue in your organization?

  2. Has the health and safety of workers or the public been put in danger because signs or instructions could not be read or understood?

C. Staffing and Retraining

  1. Is your workforce aging or more diverse than it used to be?
